Traffic Testing Guide

What Is PPV Traffic?

Understand pay-per-view traffic, how it differs from paid clicks, how to test it, and what conversion metrics matter.

PPV traffic, or pay-per-view traffic, is a form of website traffic where the destination page is shown directly to visitors rather than requiring a traditional ad click first.

How PPV differs from PPC

With pay-per-click advertising, you generally pay when someone clicks an ad. With PPV, the emphasis is on the page view itself. This can make traffic cheaper, but the intent level can also be different.

Where PPV can be useful

  • Testing landing-page headlines quickly.
  • Comparing different opt-in offers.
  • Learning how a page performs with larger visitor volume.
  • Testing a funnel before committing to more expensive traffic.

The biggest mistake to avoid

Do not judge PPV traffic by visitor count alone. A large number of views has little value if people do not opt in, click through, buy, or take the action your page is designed to produce.

What to measure

  • Landing-page bounce behavior.
  • Opt-in rate.
  • Cost per lead.
  • Conversion rate.
  • Revenue per visitor when available.

When this path makes the most sense

PPV traffic is a better fit when your main goal is getting more visitors quickly so you can test a page, funnel, or offer.
